Hey founder friends,
A few years ago, I did something that sounds ridiculous to me now: I completely stopped playing basketball for an entire year.
Basketball is one of my favorite sports. I love it (even if it doesn't always love me back ;). But after spraining my knee, I just...kept skipping it. Week after week. Month after month.
I didn't even realize what was happening until I sat down and did what I now call a "Resentment Audit." That's when it hit me—I'd been mindlessly sacrificing something that brought me real joy, and the resentment had been quietly building inside me.
This is how burnout works. It sneaks up on ya.
It's not just exhaustion (though you're definitely tired). Real burnout is exhaustion + ineffectiveness + resentment. That draining combo where you're working your butt off but getting lousy results—and starting to resent the work itself.
I just made a video breaking this down, including the full Resentment Audit tool and two other practical strategies I use with my clients to address burnout.
If you're feeling any of this right now—or want to prevent it—I think you'll find it helpful.

Rooting for you always,
Michael
